The Valle de la Lengua will reach Nájera. The President of the Government of La Rioja, Concha Andreu, and the Mayor of Nájera, Jonás Olarte, presented this Friday the actions that are going to be launched in the town within the Valle de la Lengua strategic project. The president has indicated that the objective of the regional government is "to take advantage of our strengths as a region to promote the development of the territory and, as a direct consequence, improve the quality of life of all Riojans".“Today we are talking about taking advantage of the strength of our language and the tangible and intangible heritage that we have treasured for centuries to promote the economic and social development of Nájera and the well-being of the people of Nájera”, she pointed out.Andreu has highlighted that "Valle de la Lengua looks to the future of Spanish and the future of La Rioja" and to this end promotes actions of a transformative nature in different areas, two of which "will have a direct impact on Nájera": tourism and culture.Specifically, two coordinated actions will be carried out that involve the recovery of two municipal buildings: the old abbey and apothecary house of the Santa María la Real monastery, which will house a Cultural Container, and the building of the old church of San Miguel, where The Najerillense Historical Archaeological Museum and the Court will be moved. Both actions represent an investment of 2.5 million euros, raised by the regional government through the historical heritage rehabilitation program for tourist use integrated into the Xacobeo National Plan 2021-2022 and financed with European funds from the Recovery Plan, Transformation and Resilience. The head of the Executive has stressed that the actions are adapted to the technical needs of the museum, the court and the Cultural Container; They solve problems of space and accessibility that have existed for years and will serve to revitalize Nájera and, especially, its old town and the Camino de Santiago in the city.“This is how we are working to launch our four strategic projects and this is how European funds are channeled and obtained: with competitive projects”, she underlined."And this is how we are going to be able to carry out the transformation of La Rioja to build a better future."Along these lines, she added that Nájera is going to contribute to this transformation with an innovative and digital museum where all its historical wealth can be displayed and a Cultural Container where creativity in all disciplines of Spanish will be stimulated.“The city will be revitalized, it will attract more visitors and, in addition, a space of opportunities will be generated for the start-up of new businesses and business proposals”, she has summed up.For his part, the mayor of Nájera stressed that the actions are "the largest investment aimed at the development of tourism and culture that the city has ever received" and will allow "revitalizing two unique buildings".In the case of the new exhibition center that will be built inside the old church of San Miguel, he explained that it will allow "displaying the Museum's collections, including those that are now stored due to lack of space, and, in addition, incorporating activities or temporary samples. And, regarding the abbey house, he has stressed that "the actions will include the restoration of all the carpentry of the building and the mural paintings on the ground floor, which will not only allow it to maintain its exhibition use, but will enhance its value".Olarte has indicated that in the development of the project the city and the associations are going to be involved and they are going to work with those who know the most about the cultural heritage of Nájera.“We have a unique opportunity in our hands and I am sure that we are not going to let it slip away,” she pointed out."Let's be ambitious thinking about the best future for Nájera and its citizens, and together let's make Nájera once again a reference city in our community at a cultural, historical, heritage and tourist level."During this Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24, the old church of San Miguel (Plaza de San Miguel, 10) will host the projection of an explanatory video mapping of the performances. The screening is open to the public, with showings every half hour, from 12 to 2 p.m. and from 7 to 9
